Production Grades

A steel in which a deliberate addition of one or more alloying elements, e.g. Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo etc has been made during steel making

Steels in which specific additions, the most common being S and Pb, have been made in order to improve their machinability.

A non-alloy steel generally with a carbon content greater than 0.25%, in which the amount of carbon present is the major factor in determining its mechanical properties.
